Today, the 65th National Film Awards were held. Actor Divya Dutta received a National Award for the film Irada in the Best Supporting Actor category. The actor is very happy with such a big win and says that it was a dream come true for her.
When a leading daily asked her what she has to say about winning the National Award for Irada, Divya said, “This is my first National Award and it will take time to sink in because when I came to become an actress, this was a dream for me – To win a National Award. For some reason, everyone has always called me a National Award-winner. So, finally, that comes true. It feels really nice.”
The actor added, “I just heard Shekhar Kapur say that National Awards give a platform to the films that probably haven’t been seen as much as those in the popular category and this platform makes people aware of these films and make them watch even more. And something as contemporary and relevant as Irada, I am really glad.”
Irada also starred Naseeruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi in lead roles. The film is directed by Aparnaa Singh, Nishant Tripathi and produced by Prince Soni, Falguni Patel. The film also won the best film on environmental conservation award.
She also took to Twitter to express her happiness on winning the National Award. Divya wrote, “And its happenned!!!…overwhelmed to get my first national award for Iraada!!!! And so elated to see people congratulating me feeling happier than me even!! Gratitude.”
